This page seeks to “establish the orders of battle for each of the three armies, Army of the Potomac, Army of the Shenandoah and Army of Norteastern Virginia, present on July 21,1861.” This process was not easy since there are many different accounts of brigade assignments and some companies are not even given a mention in any reference book. But the important work went on and today the website “provides the most accurate resource center for the First Battle of Bull Run, Manassas, listing all the regiments, companies and batteries with their organization and report reference numbers during the Manassas Campaign of July 16–22, 1861.”
